Inspired by the 4 brilliant designs proposed by last summers interns of the Permaculture Design Course at Lavenant with Warren Brush, the collective Grain&Sens is back to work with regular meetings to advance on the community design.

Taking the next step on this permaculture adventure together, we decided it was long over due that each of us reimagine our dream for the Grain&Sens project. In the beginning, our dream was centered on finding a home for the project and beginning our professional activities as well as this new life all together in community. Now, after almost 2 years in Lavenant (and 1 year as owners of the property) we began to wonder what did all of the G&S members dreams look like today. Good news… are dreams today are still largley shared and they all step forward on the path of building a nourishing place of living and sharing (with a lot of focus on advancing the permaculture design to become a place of demonstration for a way to live in better harmony with the environment).
After a day of transmission (revisiting the many beautiful theories, ideas and propositions that came out of the summer 2019 PDC), the collective got to work on identifying their shared priorities. The top four came out to be:
Water management (treating/ storing/ collecting)
The construction of a bakery for bread production
The renovation of the “transformation workshop” to be used as a multifunctional space ( with a large versitile room for trainings/ concerts/ celebrations, a music space, personal storage and grain storage).
Creating local resilience and nourishing neighbor relations (creating personal and professional webs with neighbors/local bussinesses and associations)
We also worked on defining a project timeline which ranged from very immediate actions (such as beginning the tradition of organizing solstice celebrations and planting a food forest to actions further down the line such sending our kids of on vision quests and even further down the line… planning the G&S retirement home/and a bio-cemetary!)
The work continues and we express our gratitude for everyone that has come and put their energy into the future of Lavenant! We will continue to share our progress in future blog posts :)
